I’m a systems administrator with quite a few years on the counter. I’ve been a field system engineer for about 10 years driving from customer to customer to maintain their networks and implement new solutions. It was a challenging job. I quit because combining this with a wife and two children was not possible.
Currently, I’m a systems administrator for a company nearby. I can even walk to the office. In this position, I lead a team of four talented colleagues. The environment we support now is significantly larger than any of the networks from the customers of my previous employer.
Throughout my career, I was also an instructor for seven years at Syntra for the courses Windows (client/server) and networking.
Our goal is the have our network running performant, available, and secure at all times. As more and more devices and locations get connected with the expectation that all services are available from everywhere on the Internet configurations might get messy. To achieve this goal we strive for standardization and documentation.
This site, my little corner on the internet, is a place where I can leave memos for myself and other systems administrators. If you find them useful, share them and give them a thumbs up.
